A new free daily publication from the Baltimore Sun Media Group, b, focuses primarily on content for college-aged students and adults, hit stands last week.
The newspaper b will cover primarily news, culture and music in a revolutionary new style.
Bright orange newspaper boxes have been placed all over campus and the city.
"I'm happy to see a new publication on our campus, anything to rival The Towerlight is good in my opinion," sophomore Alison Grisinger said.
The publication partnered with WTMD 89.7, located in the Media Center on campus, and will publish interview transcripts, CD reviews and other feature stories covered on 89.7.
WTMD's signature programs like Baltimore Unsigned, Morning Sessions and Altered Fridays will comprise some of the content in b. WTMD plans to share videos of in-studio performances and provide breaking news about bands in Baltimore.
WTMD will also have the top 15 songs of the week printed in b on Tuesday along with a print version of the New Music Sampler.
The new Web site for b, bthesite.com, is designed to keep readers up-to-date on the day's news and readers can participate online too. WTMD will share online content with b as well. Readers will find videos of in-studio performances on both wtmd.org and bthesite.com.
WTMD 89.7 will have access to b and The Baltimore Sun reporters to discuss developments in the music industry as well as stories about cultural trends and events in Baltimore.
Published five days a week and available at more than 2,400 sites around the Baltimore region, b has the potential to become a very influential paper among the college community.
